Patrick Appel is a native Houstonian and began his photographic journey as a student yearbook photographer at M.B. Lamar High School in Houston, Texas in the late 1970’s, shooting exclusively monochrome film on a Canon FTB that he developed and printed in his modest home darkroom. Life and a career in law intervened, but he returned to pursue his early love of photography approximately ten years ago, when he started traveling extensively for work and digital photography image quality began rivaling 35 mm film cameras. Although he primarily makes “travel” photographs – a combination of street, landscape, and architectural photography -- Pat also pursues an interest in abstracts of nature and architecture.
